Designed as the lexical companion to Wikipedia, the encyclopaedia project, Wiktionary has grown beyond a standard dictionary and now includes a thesaurus, a rhyme guide, phrase books, language statistics and extensive appendices. We aim to include not only the definition of a word, but also enough information to really understand it. Thus etymologies, pronunciations, sample quotations, synonyms, antonyms and translations are included. A surplus store sells items that are used, or purchased but unused, and no longer needed. The surplus is often military, government or industrial excess. The idea is related to a thrift store, though the latter is primarily consumer leftovers. A surplus store may also sell items that are past their use by date. An army surplus store or navy surplus store is any store, usually retail, which sells military surplus — general equipment that was intended for the military but is unable to be used or originally purchased in excess by the military. These stores often sell camping equipment or military clothing (especially jackets and helmets). In the UK, the Army & Navy Stores was a department store owned by House of Fraser on Victoria Street, London. This economics or finance-related article is a stub. There have been many suggestions by other employees, some people think we should have a huge sale but then we'd probably lose money. Me and a few others think we should rent a commercial grinder and grind the stuff into dust, then sell the dust by the pound. Any other suggestions? There's something called the cost of money. You've tied up capital in inventory that isn't moving. Meanwhile, you've got expenses; maybe even loans (who doesn't). Those loans cost you in interest, and even if you don't have loans, the capital could be working for you somewhere else. Have the sale, recover your money. As for the tax write-off suggestion, the amount you'd save is dependent upon your tax bracket. Say you're in the 20% bracket, you'd recoup only 20% of the donated value, which is your COST not your selling price. You can never use the retail price; you have to use the cost. So if you donate $1000 (cost) of inventory, you only get a… [cont.] Answered by Herrmann - Fri Sep 18 23:52:52 2009 anybody who knows a military surplus store in malaysia?
