looking for a military surplus clothing store?
Q. I am looking for a military surplus clothing store in the US. The one I usually shop at The Old Navy Store Just doesn t seem to have much of a selection. The Old Navy Store that I went to even had kids pajamas in it. I think this is false advertising. I don t think it had anything to do with the Navy or military surplus clothing !

A. Google maps or an online search for "Army Surplus" and (your city name) ought to bring up results that are local to you.

Does an Army/Navy surplus store only supply camouflage?
Q. Does an Army/Navy surplus store only supply camouflage or also dress uniforms? I'm trying to see whether I could find any United States Naval officers' dress uniforms for sale.
Asked by Jonathan - Tue Aug 28 12:46:03 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The best Army/Navy surplus stores are the ones outside of Army and Naval bases. They get the best stuff from the source (young soldiers/seamen who need money, that guy that steals your stuff, people getting out of the service). If you are looking for naval uniforms at surplus stores in Nebraska then you will probably be out of luck. You can probably find something on E-bay or one of the many surplus store websites available.

What can I use to get the bad smell out of army surplus store boots ?
Q. The boots are leather, standard NATO issue.
Asked by mittobridges@btinternet.com - Tue Oct 3 08:47:09 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Sprinkle some bicarbonate of soda into the boots and leave it for a day or two epending on how bad the smell is. The Bicarb will absorb the odour so throw it out and then use a shoe freshner that you can buy at local shoe stores if you want it to smell really good...

Does anyone know where the school surplus store is in Seminole County? FL?
Q. I have been looking for a computer or laptop and a few other things. I have heard from some people that they have really good deals and their products are in pretty good condition. I am not looking for something really expensive, just something at a reasonable price.
Asked by AsianGal15 - Wed Oct 8 23:46:34 2008 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I heard that the Seminole County area was very poor and did not have the money or resources to send excess supplies to a surplus store. They use everything they originally bought, and don't even have enough as it is.

Does the military surplus store sell good paintballs?
Q. What brands of paintballs do they sell and is it good paint? I want to use it for speed ball and scenario. thank you for the help
Asked by kyle - Fri Mar 6 19:16:38 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I wouldn't trust a military surplus store to sell quality paintball anything unless they were also partially a dedicated paintball store. I'd highly recommend buying paint exclusively from a paintball store. You can find all grades of paint and it'll be fresher than sporting good stores, department stores, etc.

A. Look at what the competitor has and try to carry an inventory of items not found there. Offer a quality product at a fair price. Two surplus stores might draw people from farther away than one would.

A. Have you looked for a brand name on the instructions? It might be worth buying a inexpensive piece to find this out. I doubt you're going to have much success with the manufacturer, though, because typically large chains buy in such large quantities they get the best prices. Plus, large chains have a distribution network already set up. Even if you found the manufacturer, chances are they aren't going to give you as good of a price as the store gets, and they'll probably charge you full retail, instead. Manufacturers don't like going around their dealers to make sales - if one of their stores gets word of this, they might drop that manufacturer completely. I can see why you'd want to bypass the store here, but I doubt you're going to… [cont.]

I run a thrift store...and we have a huge surplus? How to get rid of some of it?
Q. There have been many suggestions by other employees, some people think we should have a huge sale but then we'd probably lose money. Me and a few others think we should rent a commercial grinder and grind the stuff into dust, then sell the dust by the pound. Any other suggestions?
Asked by ashley - Fri Sep 18 23:18:24 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. "but then we'd probably lose money" You're already losing money sitting on the surplus. There's something called the cost of money. You've tied up capital in inventory that isn't moving. Meanwhile, you've got expenses; maybe even loans (who doesn't). Those loans cost you in interest, and even if you don't have loans, the capital could be working for you somewhere else. Have the sale, recover your money. As for the tax write-off suggestion, the amount you'd save is dependent upon your tax bracket. Say you're in the 20% bracket, you'd recoup only 20% of the donated value, which is your COST not your selling price. You can never use the retail price; you have to use the cost. So if you donate $1000 (cost) of inventory, you only get a… [cont.]

Would an Army&Navy Surplus store have Marine Corps clothing?
Q. Would an Army&Navy Surplus store have Marine Corps clothing?
Asked by Jj F - Wed Dec 23 00:57:06 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I doubt they would really have "uniforms" per say..but probably some Marine Corps paraphanalia and stuff. The Army/Navy surplus store I used to go to really didn't have any Marine stuff. They had the Army utilities and some USMC T-shirts, but not so much in the feild of actual uniforms or even Marine stuf. Your best bet for Marine clothing would be either a military surplus store NEAR a Marine base (there's one in Oceanside, CA I know of that has Marine stuff up the wazoo...including cammies) or else online...maybe grunt.com or something. But you'd really have to look there to find out. You can find some crazy stuff there. My husband and I actually found an old Russian infant's gas mask, plus a full MOPP suit (kinda like military… [cont.]
